Two years ago, I boarded a plane to the United States with a suitcase full of dreams and a heart full of fear. ✈️

Everything was new — the people, the system, even the way the air felt. I came here hoping to build a better future, not realizing how much I would grow as a person in the process.

Today, I look back with pride. From earning my Master’s of Science in Information Technology at Washington University of Science and Technology (WUST) 🎓 with the President’s Medal Scholarship, to completing my Digital Marketing Internship at the National Minority Quality Forum (NMQF), every challenge became a stepping stone.

Lesson 1: Moving Abroad Isn’t Easy

When you move abroad, you’re not just changing countries — you’re changing your entire world.

You will face culture shock, language barriers, loneliness, and endless paperwork. But with every obstacle, you will also gain confidence, independence, and resilience.

It’s not easy, but it’s worth it. Every challenge becomes part of the beautiful story you will tell later.

Lesson 2: Don’t Underestimate the Struggles of Success

Rise from challenge, grow in wisdom, find success. Trust the process.

Success doesn’t happen overnight. You will face rejections, failures, and doubts. But those moments shape your strength and sharpen your purpose.

Every international student knows — behind each achievement is a mountain of effort. Keep climbing. The view from the top will be breathtaking.

Lesson 3: Don’t Wait for Opportunities — Create Them

The universe rewards the persistent. Always keep knocking.

Don’t sit and wait for the “perfect” opportunity. Start where you are volunteer, network, learn new skills, or apply again and again.

Sometimes, the door to success isn’t locked — it just needs one more knock of courage. The world favors those who take action.

Lesson 4: Don’t Believe Living Abroad Is Always Fun

You have to navigate language, money, and community building.

Life abroad looks glamorous on social media, but the truth is — it’s not always easy. You will balance rent, work, and studies while missing home. But through those struggles, you’ll grow — learning to manage money, build friendships, and find strength in yourself.

The best part? You will eventually build a “home” wherever you are.

Lesson 5: Don’t Give Up — Every Problem Will Pass

Tough times don’t last, but tough people do. Keep going; every storm passes.

You will have days when nothing works — visa delays, job rejections, or financial worries. But those storms always pass. Every challenge you face abroad makes you stronger, wiser, and more grateful.

Remember, growth happens in discomfort. Keep climbing, one step at a time.
